Most people spend so much time doing the thing they do that they stop being able to see it. A potter at the wheel, a chef building a menu from nothing but instinct, someone who's practiced something so long it's disappeared into muscle memory. I find that person and stay long enough to watch it become visible again.

This isn't a single session. It's showing up more than once, sometimes over weeks, through the quiet parts as much as the finished ones. No shot list, no direction. I ask a few questions, mostly I just stay out of the way, and I wait for the moment the work matters more than being watched.
